A SPEED sign has been placed as part of a campaign for safer streets.
The sign has been placed on Woodside Terrace in Hexham East as part of the town council's pledge for safer streets, titled Twenty's Plenty.

Town and county councillor Suzanne Fairless-Aitken, who represents Hexham East, said: "So pleased to finally be able to restore the 20mph warning flasher on approach to the town with my county councillor funds after it was taken out by my predecessor.
"Safer streets and roads is a crucial part of our Hexham Town Council pledge and as the road is about to become part of our local cycle path later this year, I think a reminder to drivers that 'Twenty's Plenty' is timely and much needed at this residential stretch of road."
Priestpopple ward Cllr Mike Domingue added: "The new speed sign is located near a busy junction, where there is a bus stop and care home. It will help to slow traffic from 30mph to 20mph, especially with the fact that there is a play park where children regularly cross to get to the shop across from it."
