EGGER UK has donated thousands of pounds to charities close to the hearts of their employees this year.
Money has been gifted through EGGER’s community fund, a quarterly raffle where employees and visitors vote for one of three charities to share in a £6,000 donation.
In April, the company announced the recipients of their first-quarter community fund prizes.
Newcastle-based charity, The Grafters Club, received the top prize of £3,000.
This charity provides support to child victims of burns injuries, facilitating the opportunity for families to connect, while boosting self-esteem and arranging events for the children to enjoy.
The second prize of £2,000 was awarded to Young and Sweet, a charity based in Haltwhistle serving children and young adults in the local area.
The charity aids in the development of personal skills and encourages involvement in activities that matter to the individuals they serve.
Lastly, a £1,000 donation was bestowed on the Chopwell Regeneration Group, a North East charity committed to improving the lives of the Chopwell community.
Besides the Community Fund, EGGER UK donates funds to charities through the Better Health at Work scheme.
As part of this, staff are invited to participate in monthly challenges varying from running a set distance, completing a fixed amount of exercise time, to growing an unusual moustache.
This month EGGER product manager, Anna Gibson, pledged to donate 10 inches of hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that donates real hair wigs to young people who have lost their hair due to cancer or other conditions.
In support of Ms Gibson's pledge, and in celebration of EGGER Hexham’s 40th anniversary this year, EGGER staff are urged to complete 40 minutes of exercise daily, or walk, cycle or run for 40 miles – an achievable target in support of a worthy cause.
