The Vintage Hub, a vintage and antiques shop in Hexham, has been named the Courant's Trader of the Week.

Lisa Pagan and her husband Douglas, who also run Tynedale House Clearances, opened The Vintage Hub showroom at Haugh Lane Industrial Estate in March 2017.

The couple, who married just five weeks ago, have built a big following on social media thanks to their regular posts of vintage antiques and furniture.

But, they have helped to cultivate a growing community of vintage enthusiasts from both Hexham and further afar, welcoming them into their shop at the Industrial Estate on Haugh Lane.

Lisa said: "We were originally known as the Tynedale Selling Page before we got a unit, and it turned into a business. In 2018, we'd only been open a few months, we had the BBC ring up about coming, but they wanted me to change the name. So that's how we became the Vintage Hub."

Over the years, the vintage community has grown in Hexham, thanks to their excellent services and products.

Lisa added: "We have got a big vintage community in Hexham, which is growing all the time. We've definitely seen a huge shift especially towards the interior side, with chest of drawers and furniture proving more popular than collectables. What we have in our cabinets now, compared to when we first opened, has changed completely. People are just wanting to reuse, and they want the best quality they can get.

After moving to a bigger unit just a few doors down, the business has continued to thrive, even with the adversity of the coronavirus pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis.

Lisa concluded: "It's been difficult this year because the price of energy and everything else has gone up. That has had a big impact, we're working a lot harder and smarter. It's meant that we can keep going. There's a few vintage businesses closing down because the costs of keeping the shop open are too much, when people just buy online.

"We're looking forward to this year, there's some really nice things coming to the shop."
