1st Hexham Scout Group have benefited from a £250 donation from the Rotary Club, adding to their kayaking provisions.

This gift enabled them to purchase an additional inflatable kayak, adding to their collection, along with supplementary buoyancy aids and helmets.

Earlier this year, the group was awarded a grant from the Ted Potts Memorial Fund, which had helped in the purchase of their first two kayaks, buoyancy aids, and helmets for the Beaver Section.

All sections of the group have taken the opportunity to use the three new kayaks at Dilston Scout Camp, much to their joy.

The group has expressed great gratitude for these grants, which have allowed the introduction of new experiences to the young members.

Many of these young people would not have had access to these activities otherwise.

Thanks have been given to both the Rotary Club and the Ted Potts Memorial Fund for their donations.

The Group, however, is in need of adult volunteers across its sections.

They are also planning to open a new ‘Squirrels’ section for boys and girls aged six to eight.
