A Hexham headteacher has said she is 'incredibly proud' after her school was rated Good in a recent Ofsted inspection. 

Slaley First School was rated Good, with staff and pupils heavily praised for their positive approach to learning. 

Headteacher, Mrs Angela Hayward said: "We are incredibly proud of our achievements. Staff work extremely hard; we have an amazing team who work together incredibly well. Pupils feel safe and are valued and we diligently provide the very best education for all of our pupils."

The report states: "This is a small school where staff know the pupils well and everyone feels valued.

"Staff and pupils abide by the school’s values. All have a positive approach to work.

"Leaders have the highest of aspirations for their pupils. This includes children in early years and pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

"The school supports pupils and their families well. Pupils are very well prepared for their next stage in education."
