An organisation supporting the development of professional skills for writers has announced an exciting Autumn Programme of events, writing groups and industry workshops.
The Newcastle-based New Writing North will host courses and workshops by industry experts this autumn on such topics as writing for children and young adults, mindfulness for creativity, crime fiction writing and the foundations of fiction.
Meanwhile, a dedicated weekend of talks and network opportunities for aspiring screenwriters will take place from January 31 to February 2 in the form of the Screenwriting Weekender, sponsored by North East Screen.
Executive director of programme and impact at New Writing North, Anna Disley, said: "We're proud to be uncovering, supporting, and providing career-making opportunities for writing talent at all stages, with thanks to the support from our partners.”
The organisation's Autumn Programme also includes literary events at Waterstones Newcastle and Tyneside Cinema, as well as the Durham Book Festival, produced by New Writing North and running from October 11 to 13.
Four headline authors participating in the Autumn Programme are Rebecca F. Kuang, Alan Hollinghurst, Jackie Kay and Jodi Picoult.
New Writing North will also host the Northern Writers’ Awards, open from November 26 until February 6.
