Two friends are "winning" their mental health battles thanks to help from charities they're now trekking to raise fund for.
Adam Goodfellow and Jamie Siddle, both 40, will trek 84 miles along Hadrian’s Wall Footpath over just three days next month (August) to raise money for Mental Health Matters (MHM) and Tyneside Mind.
The pair decided to take on the challenge, which runs from between Bowness and Wallsend, due to their own battles with mental health and their appreciation for what both charities offer people in their time of need.
"In the last year, I've been physically sick due to stress and anxiety, self-harmed, and thought about ending my life", said Adam.
"Support from mental health services has helped me get past these low points. I want to help make sure that these services are available when other people need them," he added.
Jamie, a carer and Mountain Rescue volunteer fom Eggleston, near Barnard Castle, said: "I'm supporting Tyneside Mind and Mental Health Matters on this walk as I have had to use mental health services myself during tough times.
"I have battled depression for a very long time, and with counselling, therapy, and medication I am winning."
Adam and Jamie aim to complete the walk between August 9-11 and any donations can be made via Justgiving at https://www.justgiving.com/page/adam-goodfellow-1719508698499
