WE asked our readers which were their favourite 'go to' venues for a great night out in Hexham and the wider Tyne Valley.

Venues include the First & Last Brewery in Bellingham and The Beaumont Hotel in Hexham.

Here are the top six recommendations from readers.

The Black Bull, Bellingham. Shelley Angel said: "The Black Bull, Bellingham and Marcus Varty seem to be putting in loads of effort in after acquiring the pub. Lots of theme nights, events, food and bands."

One Facebook review said: "We’ve just spent four nights in Bellingham and found The Black Bull to be a friendly and appealing pub."

First & Last Brewery Tap, Bellingham. Shelley Angel also recommended the First & Last Brewery, adding it has 'lots of great events on'.

A happy customer reviewed the brewery on Facebook: "Lovely little quirky bar, staff were very friendly and also the locals."

James Middleton, from The Boatside Inn in Warden, recommended his establishment and said: "Great choice of drinks, ambience and guaranteed friendly craic," he said.

A review posted on Facebook said: "The barman was chatty and friendly and there is a lovely outside area too. We would certainly go again if in the area."

The Beaumont Hotel, Hexham was voted for by Andrew Gardner for being 'chilled and relaxing'.

The Victorian townhouse hotel has plenty of happy customers.

It hosts a range of events including weddings. One review said: "All staff were great, from the moment we walked in, to meeting the owner this morning. They were all very attentive."

Andrew David Robson recommended The Forum Cinema, Hexham.

A single-screen independent cinema, The Forum shows films of various genres and also hosts outdoor screenings and other events, such as the Tyne Valley Film Festival.

"A lovely venue, well organised, personal and friendly. One of my favourite cinemas as it’s community-led and based. Can get snacks, drinks, just a great night out," one review said.

The Queen's Hall Arts Centre, Hexham was also recommended by Andrew David Robson. 

Charitable company Queen's Hall Arts manages the venue, The Queen's Hall Arts Centre. It hosts live performances including music, comedy and drama. 

"Super venue. Very friendly," one reviewer said.
