As the summer holidays get into full swing, we asked our readers for their opinions on getting children to help with chores.
Here's what they said.
Jill Callaghan said: "I remember doing dishes when I was so young I had to stand on a chair to reach the sink. I also remember once asking my Dad if we could get a dishwasher and being told we already had five dishwashers."
Lyn Murray said: "Saturday morning jobs for my brother and me from five years old for pocket money. As I got older, the more I helped the more I was given. Great family values."
Susan Thompson added: "My little granddaughter loves helping make the Sunday lunch when she stays at mine. She makes great Yorkshire puddings. She's nine now but has been helping for quite a long time"
Edith Gray commented: "We had to from about six or seven years old, we had a stool so we could reach the sink to wash up, we had to tidy up, clear the table etc, never did us any harm at all."
