The countdown to the Great North Run weekend is on.
North East's largest sporting weekend takes place from September 6 to 8.
It includes AJ Bell Great North 5k on the opening evening, which still has spaces, the sold out junior and mini events on September 7, and the much-anticipated Great North Run half marathon, also sold out, on September 8.
Paul Foster, chief executive at The Great Run Company, said: "We're incredibly excited for the 43rd staging of the Great North Run, and with places still available, there's still opportunity to be a part of the Great North Run weekend."
He also praised the North 5k as "always an exciting event" enriched by Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside's atmosphere.
North East Mayor, Kim McGuinness, expressed her excitement: "The Great North Run is an iconic event and showcases the very best of our great North East."
