Kielder Water transformed into a bustling maritime metropolis thanks to the third annual Big Regatta.

The event, which took place in July, is hosted by Northumbrian Water.

Clubs from all over congregated at the lake, contributing to the grand spectacle.

Among the participants were distinguished entities like the Kielder Yacht Club, Kielder Water Ski Club, Kielder Water Sailing Club and guests, The CapeCutter 19 Association.

The association, distinctly recognised for its passion for classic and traditional sailing boats, saw its members journey from various parts of the country to join the event.

The extraordinary Calvert Kielder also joined.

Their involvement pushed boundaries, proving there were no constraints for individuals with disabilities.

As boat sails and flags waved in the wind, 47 different types of watercraft formed an impressive flotilla behind the Osprey Ferry.

As the cavalcade closed in on Kielder Waterside, onlookers were serenaded by a brass band.

Onshore, attendees and their guests partook in a buffet.

The Vikings themed fancy dress added an extra layer of fun, with rewards given to those with the best outfits.

Fiona McErlean, commodore of Kielder Yacht Club, was thrilled.

She said: "The success of the ‘Big Regatta’ is a testament to the hard work of a dedicated team of volunteers who ensured everything ran smoothly, creating a memorable experience for all involved.".

Ms McErlean extended her gratitude to Northumbrian Water and Andy Young, the former ferry master, for their integral roles.

As the event culminated, the satisfaction and anticipation among attendees were palpable.

Kielder Water had solidified itself as a prime spot for water sports aficionados.
