The International Centre for Life in Newcastle has launched 'Outdoors, Indoors', featuring a range of entertaining and educational summer activities.

The activities include indoor beach huts, a giant deckchair, and traditional games like hoopla, skittles and hook a duck.

And there's a home-grown, animated show called 'Earth Defenders!' on display at the Planetarium.

The 360° immersive 1980s-style show lets viewers encounter asteroid detector NEOWISE, friend of the forest Biomass, inspector of ice and oceans CryoSat-2, MetOp, and global guider Galileo as they defend the universe.

Visitors can also travel back in time in the latest live show The Great North Time Machine which celebrates iconic inventions from the area while exploring what could be the big ideas of the future.

This weekend (August 3-4), there is a 20 per cent discount on science centre tickets booked online using the discount code WEEKENDSAVER.

Life's summer programme is running to September 1 and all activities are covered with the entry ticket.
