A suspected burglary was reported to police during the weekend in a rural village. 

The incident was reported to Northumbria Police in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Just after 4am on Saturday, August 10, we received a report of a suspected burglary at a business premises on Parkside Place in Bellingham.

“Officers attended, where it was found the front door had been forced open and a large sum of money had been stolen from the cash registers.

“An investigation was immediately launched and enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible and fully understand the circumstances.

“Anyone with information which they think may assist our enquiries, including any doorbell footage, is asked to contact us via direct message on social media or on our website, quoting the crime number 094145P/24.
