THE new owner of a tea room said it has had an 'excellent' reaction from the community since opening.
New owner Emma Elliott opened Allendale Tea Rooms on Monday, August 12.
Emma, who lives in Allendale, took over the business several months ago.
She has also opened a bed and breakfast in the same premises which started operating on August 15.
There are two rooms available which both have luxury en-suites.
Allendale Tea Rooms were closed for several years since the Covid pandemic in 2020.
Emma said she hopes to offer 'pop-up food' and hire the back room out to pop-up caterers.
"I'm also upselling artwork for local art projects," she added. These artworks will be available to buy and Emma will receive a commission from the sale.
She said the community reaction had been 'excellent' since she reopened the business.
"I haven't stopped today (August 13), it's been excellent and I couldn't want anything more. It's only been two days but I've been stowed off.
"I've got an excellent cook called Julie Telford and I'm in the process of getting some waiting staff as well," Emma said.
The menu includes quiche, paninis, hot meals such as mince and dumplings with mashed potato and children's meals.
"We do all home baking such as corned beef pies, lasagne and a large selection of cakes, scones and ice cream," Emma said.
The tea room is open Monday to Sunday from 9am until 5pm and is closed on Wednesday.
