Northumberland County Council is encouraging residents to ensure they're on the electoral register as it begins its annual canvass.
The council uses the information gathered during this time to invite unregistered residents to register and to update records for those who have moved away.
Residential properties will be reached in stages, meaning not all households will get communication at the same time.
People may be contacted via email or post, with detailed directions on how to respond.
If the council possesses your email and you're already a registered voter, there's a chance you'll receive an email from its electoral services.
This email will be titled, 'Is the electoral registration information correct for your address?' and will bear the council's logo and a security code.
Residents are required to respond, even if their household's details remain unchanged.
When there are new names, an Invitation to Register form will be sent, yet these names will only be added to the electoral register upon successful completion of the registration process.
For any queries regarding these emails' legitimacy, residents can reach out to Electoral Services at 01670 624844 or via elections@northumberland.gov.uk.
Prompt reactions are appreciated to minimise any additional letters.
