Three of Tripadvisor's best restaurants near Hexham

Here is a selection of three highly-rated restaurants in or near Hexham.

One Tripadvisor review said: "Fantastic food in a small, warm and welcoming eatery. Easily the best burrito I’ve had in the North East. Having yet to go to Mexico I can’t comment on the authenticity, but everything was freshly made and very tasty. Their fresh juices are worth splurging on too."

Another said: "Little Mexico in Hexham is wonderful! We went to Little Mexico with family for lunch. The atmosphere is excellent, the staff were superb and the food was absolutely gorgeous! Coco and the staff were so friendly. We have made a reservation to return one evening to explore the menu further as there was a beautiful selection. I would highly recommend this little piece of Mexico in Hexham."

The Natural Grocer Market & Social was the next top-rated restaurant on Tripadvisor, which serves a variety of tapas dishes and brunch.

"Everything about this restaurant is different. The ambience gives it a very laid-back feel. The menu is unusual, the food is very tasty (especially given the limited size of the kitchen) and the drinks offer is definitely a cut above," one Tripadvisor reviewer said.

Another said: "Our hosts were most attentive and ensured we had a memorable experience. Service was first class. Highly recommended."

Next was Hjem, which is located in Wall, outside of Hexham.

The Michelin-starred restaurant serves a mix of dishes inspired by Scandinavian and Northumbrian flavours and ingredients.

"The attention to detail, the friendliness and knowledge of the serving team, Alex and Ally were just so lovely, stopping to talk to everyone and make sure they were happy," one review said.

Another said: "My wife and I visited Hjem for a birthday treat and we loved every minute. Every course was delicious and we were so pleased we’d decided to stay over as the pre-dinner cocktails and breakfast were fantastic too."
