Bardon Mill Village Store and Tea Room was recommended by reviewers for toasties, cakes and coffee among other items.
"Lovely local shop, good coffee and delicious cake. Really good find," one happy customer said.
Another commented: "Visited here a couple of times when on holiday, cakes and tray bakes are lovely. Nice tea and coffee. Staff are friendly. A small shop which is well stocked with essentials, newspapers and gifts. Dog friendly too."
Riverside Kitchen, Hexham was recommended by reviewers for baked items including quiche, pies and cake.
"A great stop on the way to and from Newcastle, the service is excellent as is their quiche and scones and cakes," a Tripadvisor review said.
Another review said: "We had the baked potato served with cheese, crisps, salad, coleslaw and chutney for under £8 - and tomato soup and a hearty prawn sandwich."

The Refectory Cafe, Hexham was also praised in Tripadvisor reviews for cakes and other treats.
"After exploring the grounds of Hexham Abbey we came across this quaint tea room. Initially we were only going to have coffee but the temptation of beautifully presented cake was too much, as my generous slice of Victoria sponge did not disappoint."
Another commented: "Charming cafe offering good value and an abundance of outdoor seating."
