THE A69 has reopened in both directions between B6531 (Hexham) and A686 (Haydon Bridge) after a lorry fire closed lanes this morning.
National Highways: North-East has now posted on X, formerly Twitter, that the road is now open.
"The A69 has now reopened in both directions between the A686 (Haydon Bridge) and the B6531 (Hexham). Temporary traffic lights have been installed to allow carriageway resurfacing works to take place tomorrow. Please allow extra journey time if travelling through the area," it said.
Northumbria Police confirmed officers and emergency services were called to the scene this morning.
A spokesperson said at the time: "At 10.20am today (Tuesday, August 27) we received a report of a vehicle fire on the A69 at Haydon Bridge, in Northumberland."
Motorists were advised to find alternative routes.
A spokesperson from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call at 10.16am regarding a lorry fire on the A69 and mobilised three pumps to safely put out the fire. We utilised four sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reels."
