Almost a year after the 'shocking destruction' of Hadrian’s Wall’s famous Sycamore tree, Hexham Abbey Festival plans to host a memorial concert.
On the eve of the anniversary of the felling, which happened on September 28, the Northumberland community is set to commemorate through music and poetry, reflecting the artistic outpourings that the incident stimulated.
The concert features talent such as cellist and composer Riccardo Pes and poet Stan Beckenstall.
Mr Pes, upon learning about the tree's felling, felt compelled to compose a 'Lament', scheduled to be the concert’s highlight.
His music will be preceded by J.S. Bach's Cello Suite No 1 and followed by Suite No 2.
