Two churches in Bywell will open to visitors this weekend as part of the nationwide Heritage Open Days event.
Bywell St Peter's, the parish church of Stocksfield, and Bywell St Andrew's, part of Riding Mill parish by historical anomaly, will open to visitors on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15.
The open days will be informed by this year's Heritage Open Days theme, 'Routes - Networks - Connections.'
As a representative for the Bywell open days said: "What better connection to make than with your neighbour or the heritage buildings in your neighbourhood?"
St Peter’s, which is cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust, will welcome guests from 11am until 4pm each day, with light refreshments available.
St Andrew’s will be open from 1pm through to 4pm each day, with members of the Friends of St Andrew’s on hand to discuss how to work together to secure the future of the church.
The weekend concludes with choral Evensong at St Peter’s at 5pm on Sunday, with refreshments.
