A man in his 60s was found dead on the banks of the River Tyne yesterday.
Police and ambulance crews responded to reports of concerns for a man's welfare yesterday morning (Thursday, September 12) close to Wylam Bridge.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 11am yesterday, we received a report of a concern for the welfare of a man close to Wylam Bridge, on the banks of the River Tyne.
“Emergency services attended and sadly the man aged in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The man's next of kin have been informed.
"There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
