WE wanted to know where the most unique accommodation was in and around Hexham, so here is a round-up of some of the best places we found on Tripadvisor.

Here's what we found.

Heathergate Boutique Holiday Park, Lowgate, is on the outskirts of Hexham and offers peaceful lodges to relax and enjoy the surroundings in outdoor hot tubs.

A Tripadvisor review said: "We stayed in one of the luxury spa lodges, with a hot tub, sauna, and steam room, and it was amazing.

"We were celebrating a birthday, and the staff was kind enough to set up some balloons and banners we had sent in advance, which was a lovely surprise for the birthday girl."

Other reviews praised its rural location, good facilities and clean accommodation.

Tarset Tor Bunkhouse and Bothy Holidays, Greystones Lanehead, Tarset, is highly rated on Tripadvisor's criteria of location, cleanliness, service, and value.

It is located on the edge of Kielder Forest and offers versatile, eco-friendly self-catering accommodation.

One Tripadvisor review said: "Brilliant place to go. I cannot recommend highly enough. The hosts/owners very kindly stepped in when our stay next door to them was cancelled. They were very welcoming and the bothy we were given was above and beyond what we had expected. Clean, modern, you wanted for nothing."

Another review said: "There is nowhere else I have been and seen such a starry sky. You will not find better, caring hosts."

Posh Huts, Falstone Farm, Hexham is 'ideal if you want a peaceful relaxing break', according to one reviewer.

"Lovely and clean, warm and comfortable. Well-equipped kitchen, immaculate shower room and comfortable bed. Would certainly recommend," they added.

Panoramic Pods, Dryside Farm, Allendale, offers a 'tranquil environment' and 'fantastic views', according to one guest who rated the experience five stars on Tripadvisor.  

Another guest who has stayed several times before said: "Always a great experience. Great location for day trips, with Hadrian's Wall to the North and North Pennines to the South."

The fully renovated Chesters Stables in Humshaugh, seven self-catering suites, are based on the landscaped Walwick Hall Country Estate with a hotel and spa neighbouring the site.

One customer said: "We stayed in The Clock Tower to celebrate our wedding anniversary with our family. It was beautifully decorated, large luxury accommodation.

He continued: "The accommodation was very well equipped and had everything we could possibly need."
