A special book signing event will celebrate two years of a monthly coffee morning.

Tynedale Hospice at Home will mark the two-year anniversary of its Trinity Coffee Morning with a book signing by author Shirley Dickson.

The event will take place on Thursday, October 3, from 10am to 12pm at Hexham Trinity Methodist Church.

Author Shirley Dickson, who lives in Northumberland, is The USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of The Orphan Sisters.

She has written five World War Two historical novels, with her first story published at the age of 74.

Members of the public are invited to meet Ms Dickson and receive a signed copy of her book, The Orphan’s Secret, for a suggested donation of £5.

She said: "I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and sampling some of the sweet treats at the coffee morning.

"I am happy to chat to anyone about my journey to become an author and sign copies of my book.

"It is my pleasure to support this local charity and support the care services that they provide to the community."

The coffee morning is organised and run by a dedicated team of Hospice volunteers, taking place on the first Thursday of each month.

It is open to everyone and always has a selection of home-baked sweet treats available.

Matthew Crowe, fundraising officer for the Hospice, said: "We are delighted that Shirley has kindly offered to support the Hospice with this book signing event at our Trinity Coffee Morning.

"The volunteers that organise, bake, and run this coffee morning are so inspirational and it has become a very important event in our monthly calendar."
