A school has unveiled its newly refurbished theatre.

Mowden Hall School celebrated the grand reopening of its Harrison Theatre, which has been transformed thanks to a fundraising effort.

The project was made possible by a multitude of donations, including from The Harrison Foundation.

The school said the investment provides students, staff, and the local community with a space for 'artistic expression, skill development, and engagement'.

The theatre has been fitted with flexible seating, new lighting, and given a 'complete facelift'.

The renovations have created an 'inspiring and multi-purpose venue that will instil pride and confidence in all those who use it'.

Kate Martin, headteacher at Mowden Hall School, said: "The transformation of the Mowden Hall Theatre will revolutionise the way we deliver the arts, maintain and strengthen our sense of community and very importantly allow Mowden Hall School to further collaborate with local communities.

"The theatre has always been the heart of the school, and was identified early on in the school improvement plan as a number one priority.

"It is a facility that is central to our aim of building the confidence of our pupils.

"We are delighted and hugely grateful to all our donors for enabling this to happen.

"The Harrison Theatre marks a new chapter in the development of Mowden Hall School."

The school said music and drama play a 'crucial role' in building confidence, teamwork, and communication skills in children.

The newly refurbished space will allow the school to continue to promote public speaking and confidence, as well as provide opportunities for those more technical to learn to use lighting and sound equipment.

People can still contribute to the project through the 'Take Your Seat' campaign.
