A Hexham restaurant is expanding with a new base in the big city.

The Valley Group, which owns The Valley Indian restaurants in Corbridge and Jesmond, also owns Indo-Latino fusion restaurant Cilantro in Hexham.

Daraz Aziz owns The Valley Group, while Cilantro was set up and is managed by Daraz's son, Nabil.

Cilantro will open a new restaurant on the Quayside in Newcastle this winter.

Nabil said: "We always wanted to be in the hustle and bustle. Hexham allowed us to learn and grow, but it’s a new concept we want to share with a wider range of people in the North East and what better than the Quayside?

"We are based on the ‘side’, in and amongst some of the most popular restaurants in the city and a stone's throw away from the iconic Tyne Bridge. Daraz always had a dream to have five restaurants in the North East. We want to fulfil this dream as a family."
