The Upper Redesdale Agricultural Show took place on Saturday—the first under its new chairman.
It is one of Northumberland's smaller but most beloved rural events which celebrates the agricultural community of the Upper Redesdale Valley and showcases the best of local farming, food, and crafts.
The event has a history spanning more than 135 years and brings together farmers and families from across the area in a day of celebration, competition, and community spirit.
Mark Anderson was appointed by the show committee as the new chairman last year, with the 2024 show being the first under his guidance.
He brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role, having been actively involved in both the Upper Redesdale show and Falstone Show for many years.
Mr Anderson, a well-known figure in the local agricultural community, takes the helm from Selby Robson.
He said: "I am honoured to take on this role at such an important time.
"The Upper Redesdale Show has always been a celebration of our agricultural heritage and community spirit, and I look forward to working with our dedicated team of volunteers who keep the show going year after year; and made this year’s show the best yet."
The entrants showed a wide array of livestock and industrial items.
The dog show this year was judged by Mr G Underwood, who awarded the challenge cup for the best Terrier to Katie Rogerson and Puppy Holly.
The industrial tent was filled with local skill, with Kathryn Corbett picking up the Lawrence Corbett Challenge Cup for the most points in baking.
Mary White and Kathy Scott jointly lifted the Fanny Rutherford Challenge Plaque.
The Northumberland National Parks Cup was won by Sakina Gray in her first year showing at Rochester.
In the junior classes, Katie Woodcock and "the Charlies" (Mettan and Shaw) won the Boys and Girls Challenge plaques for the under 9s.
In the ages 10 to 16, Jake Rogerson won the Boys Challenge Plaque, and Abigail Gaukrodger won the Girls Challenge Plaque.
This year, the show also received support from local businesses.
The Barbour Foundation, Newcastle United, Otterburn Mill, Rochester Relish, Alnwick Castle, and Alnwick Gardens all donated raffle prizes.
