The Prudhoe Miner's Race has returned with new routes and races for 2024.
Held on Sunday, August 25, the event was organised by Prudhoe Town Council in collaboration with Wild Deer Events.
The 2024 edition introduced three new races: a 2km for children aged 8-11, a 5km for those 11 and up, and a 10km for participants aged 16 and older.
The new, flatter routes aimed to welcome newcomers while still providing a challenge for seasoned athletes.
All races started and finished at Prudhoe Town Football Club, with the course taking runners through the Low Prudhoe Industrial Estate.
Spectators lined the route, cheering on participants as they made their way to the finish line.
Each runner received a medal, exclusive merchandise, a snack, and a drink.
Essity, the event's sponsor, provided prizes for the top finishers, adding a competitive element to the day.
Prudhoe Town Council expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the event's success, including Wild Deer Events, participants, volunteers, spectators, and sponsors.
A spokesperson for the town council said: "The Prudhoe Miner's Race has become a cherished tradition and a highlight of the year for our community, and the 2024 edition was no exception.
"Prudhoe Town Council Miner's Race is a shining example of our town's rich history and vibrant community spirit, and we are already looking forward to doing it all again next year!"
The Miner's Race, a long-standing tradition, continues to celebrate community spirit, athleticism, and pride.
The council is already looking forward to next year's event, hoping for another successful celebration of the town's rich history and community spirit.
