A community interest company is 'excited' after being awarded National Lottery funding.

Debbi's Doodles, which provides educational support for young people through creative play, said the grant will allow them to offer several hundred hours of 'vital' one-to-one support.

This will support young people who are not attending school but are waiting for Local Authority funding for full education packages.

Debbi's Doodles has recently relocated to its headquarters in central Hexham.

Doodle HQ has already allowed the organisation to expand its club and group programs, creating a 'welcoming environment' where young people can engage in creative activities, build friendships, and receive the support they need.

The funding targets a 'significant' gap in provision for children excluded or withdrawn from school, leaving them without support during a 'critical transition period'.

Debbi's Doodles aims to fill this gap with tailored, one-to-one assistance fostering learning, personal development, and emotional well-being.

Debbi, founder of Debbi's Doodles, said: "We are incredibly grateful for the support from the National Lottery.

"This funding is already making a real difference in the lives of young people facing challenges in their education.

"Our goal is to provide them with the tools and support they need to thrive while ensuring they feel valued and connected to their community."

Debbi's Doodles is a new resource for the Hexham area, having recently moved from Allendale.

With the new funding, the organisation is poised to 'enhance its impact' and reach even more individuals in need.
