THE town will remember the sacrifices of the fallen in a commemorative event.
Hexham Town Council has arranged this year's Remembrance event which will be held at several locations in November.
Hexham East town councillor Suzanne Fairless-Aitken, who is also chair of the Remembrance Committee, said the War Memorial on Beaumont Street has been cleaned in preparation over the summer.
"We have a new poem by a woman, Elizabeth Gibson Cheyne, sister of Hexham poet Wilfred Gibson, being read by the mayor," she said.

Local schools, including the Sele First School, are involved in the event by making and laying wreaths.
"We want this to be an inclusive event for all. It's our duty to pass on the cost of war and to remember those who died for our democracy to the next generations.
"It's been a lot of organising, as always, and Hexham Town Council couldn't have done it without the veterans and volunteers from Tynedale Lions, Hexham Rotary, and the amazing 41 Club.
"The ex-head of St Joseph's School, Alan Hodgson, helped me all the way. If you'd like to volunteer to be part of this amazing public committee, please send an email to clerk@hexhamtowncouncil.gov.uk," she added.
There will be a parade from the Moot Hall at 10.15am on Sunday, November 10 followed by a service at Hexham War Memorial on Beaumont Street at 10.30am.
There will be an informal two-minute silence at the War Memorial on Monday, November 11 at 11am.
