A new dog walking route has been launched at Kielder Forest.

The Forest Walkies route, developed by Forestry England, Aardman, and Ordnance Survey, features activities inspired by Wallace and Gromit.

David Pass, Forestry England recreation ranger, said: "We can’t wait to welcome dogs and their owners for their Forest Walkies with this brand-new campaign.

"Kielder is the perfect place for dogs to have fun, exercise and stay healthy all year round."

Activities challenge dogs to sit still while walkers count to 30 in 'Gromit seconds' and to high-five their owners.

There is also a photo opportunity at the end for dogs to say 'cheese Gromit!'.

Aardman’s senior brand manager, Rachael Peacock, said: "We are delighted to be continuing our long-term partnership with Forestry England with the new ‘Forest Walkies’ campaign.

"Wallace and Gromit love the countryside and can’t wait to start encouraging families to get outdoors with their four-legged friends on these cracking dog-walking trails."

Activity packs are available to purchase containing a tote bag, dog bandana, competition entry leaflet, and crossword puzzle.

The competition offers the chance to win a £1,500 Forest Holidays cabin break.
