The Big Draw Festival is back this half-term with activities across Northumberland.
The 'world’s largest celebration of drawing has a theme this year of 'Drawing in Motion'.
The Maltings, in collaboration with Northumberland Libraries, is exploring the theme with artist Jyl Friggens.
Five libraries across Northumberland will host the festival including Blyth, Cramlington, Hexham, Berwick, and Ashington.
Sessions will take place between Monday, October 28, and Friday, November 1.
The festival’s activities are aimed at children aged four to 11 years.
Each workshop is set to start with a storytelling session of a fairytale using shadow puppets.
Following the story, children will have the chance to create their own shadow puppet fairytale characters using card.
The Big Draw Festival is an all-year-round celebration of drawing and visual creativity.
This year’s workshops are inspired by the award-winning Royal Opera’s Family Folk Opera, Wolf, Witch, Giant, Fairy.
It will be screened at The Maltings on Wednesday, October 30 and Thursday, October 31.
The Maltings will also host a creative workshop with dance artist Chloë Smith at 11am on Thursday, October 31.
The workshop, just in time for Halloween, allows children to create their own fairy tales and magical creatures through dance and creative activities.
Tickets for the workshop are free for ticket holders of the Royal Opera’s screenings but must be booked with The Maltings Box Office.
For those who wish to attend the workshop without going to the screening, tickets are £2 per child, and accompanying adults can go free.
Tickets for the Drawing in Motion Fairytale workshops are £2 per child.
Tickets can be booked in advance via Eventbrite.
