A creative learning charity has been nominated for an award.
Mortal Fools has been shortlisted for the North East Culture Award in the Arts Council England category.
The charity, which is based in Northumberland, has been recognised for its 'high-impact', 'transformative' creative interventions.
The focus of the nomination is its flagship Ensemble Young Company programme 2024, which saw young people from Tyne Valley and Ashington co-create a professional piece of theatre.
This socially engaged theatre piece, titled 'Inevitable?', highlights the experiences of young people growing up in Northumberland and was toured across the North East and North West.
Artistic director and CEO of Mortal Fools, Kiz Crosbie, said: "As a theatre company new to the Arts Council's National Portfolio of organisations, we are immensely proud that our professional co-created theatre and creative interventions with young people have been acknowledged with this nomination.
"This recognition supports our unflinching commitment to producing and profiling high-quality artistic work made with some of the region's amazing young creatives through programmes like our flagship Northumberland-based Ensemble Young Company."
Rachel Horton, communications and marketing manager at Mortal Fools, said: "We are thrilled to be a finalist in the #NECultureAwards in the Arts Council England Award category, proudly flying the flag for culture and creativity with and for Northumberland young people and communities."
