Doris Wright, from Haltwhistle, celebrated her 100th birthday with a surprise party at Haltwhistle Comrades Club.
Ms Wright believed she was going for afternoon tea with her granddaughter, Rachel, who organised the celebration.
She was taken by surprise when she entered the room to see her family and friends were all waiting for her.
Her son, daughter, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren were all in attendance.
The centenarian enjoyed catching up with everyone, some of whom she hadn't seen in a long time.
Ms Wright attributes her long life to her daily diet of a banana and Weetabix.
