A North East museum director, responsible for Hexham Old Gaol, has been recognised as an influential leader.
Keith Merrin, director of Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, secured a spot on Blooloop's 50 Museum Influencer List, announced on October 31.
This list identifies pivotal individuals whose creativity and innovation significantly shape the modern museum landscape.
While several UK museum leaders were recognised, Mr Merrin was the sole representative from North East England.
Mr Merrin said: "I am pleased to have been included in the Blooloop 50 Museum Influencer List for 2024 alongside an impressive bunch of people from round the world.
"It’s testament to the work that the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums team are delivering every day in innovative ways for the communities of the North East."
The organisation, which manages nine attractions and the archives service for Tyne & Wear, is set to take on the management of Hexham Old Gaol from April 2025.
The Blooloop judging panel described Mr Merrin as someone who "is committed to making culture accessible and relevant to the communities in Tyne and Wear."
They noted his "forward-thinking approach that balances tradition with innovation" as ensuring that "Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums remain vital cultural assets for the region."
