A 4m poppy sail will enhance the Remembrance Day service at Ponteland’s War Memorial.
The striking installation, outside the Ponteland Memorial Hall, was created from thousands of poppies knitted by local volunteers.
The poppy sail was unveiled on November 1.
Steve Colman, charity trustee of the Ponteland Memorial Hall, who led the project, said: "Ponteland Memorial Hall has for over a hundred years been a reminder of those from Ponteland who made the ultimate sacrifice.
"We are very grateful to the trustees and volunteers who have made this year’s Remembrance Day service one to remember with the poppy sail."
The sail was a community effort involving many volunteers.
Among those who contributed were Linda Varley and her granddaughter Philippa Varley, activity coordinator Fran, and the residents and staff of the local Royal Hampton Care Home.
The act of remembrance will take place at Ponteland’s War Memorial on November 12 starting at 10.55am with two minutes' silence at 11am.
Refreshments will be available at the hall after the service.
