Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has been nationally recognised for its work in ensuring safe staffing.
The trust was among six winners at the RLDatix Awards 2024, clinching the Safer Care award.
The project, led by the NMAHP (Nursing, Midwifery & Allied Health Professionals) and Workforce Systems teams, used real-time data on a dashboard to monitor staff movements and ensure the right skill mix at each site.
This reduced unnecessary staff moves and supported staff wellbeing.
The project is easily replicable and the team has shared insights with other organisations.
Chris Platton, director of nursing at Northumbria Healthcare, said: "This is a fantastic achievement for everyone who has been involved in these projects.
"We are proud of their consistent drive towards delivering exceptional care to our communities.
"Being shortlisted, highly commended and taking home an award is a true reflection of the commitment from every team member."
The trust was also shortlisted in four other categories, with three receiving highly commended status.
Peter Carter OBE, former general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing and one of the judges, said: "These awards give us an opportunity to take stock and recognise individuals and teams who have improved quality of care and championed patient safety through workforce initiatives."
