Pronouncing the names of towns correctly can sometimes be a struggle for tourists and locals alike.
Google revealed 26 place names in the UK that accrue more than 1,000 searches for pronunciation help annually.
We asked our readers which towns and villages they feel are most mispronounced in the Tyne Valley.

Prudhoe and Wark were the top spots mentioned by readers.
Jo Nelson, Gem Scott, Rebekah Elise, Rachel Foster, Joao Manuel Pinto Correia, Steven Christ, and Tessa King all commented that Prudhoe is the most common one.
The most common incorrect pronunciation is 'Prudduh', although according to Google, the correct version is 'Proo-dow'.
Humshaugh
Brian Tilley and Richard Gouch both mentioned the village of 'Humz-hoff', which is often called 'Hums-how'.
Bellingham
Mal RV and Judith Biggs mentioned 'Beh-luhng-uhm', while several readers added Ponteland is often mispronounced, including Jack Lapping, Sheila Ryder, Graeme Harrison and AB Smith.
'Pon-tee-luhnd' is sometimes called 'Ponty-land'.
Joanne Herdman, Derek Sim, Ashley Mary Carson, Corinne Wilson and Gayle Wright all mentioned Wark, often pronounced 'Walk'.
Other places mentioned were Greenhaugh by Hugh Forster, Ovingham by Lesley Reed, pronounced correctly as 'Ov-in-jem' and Chollerford by Andrew David Robson.
