The winners of the 2024 Acomb in Bloom awards have been announced.
Judging was carried out over late summer by two parish councillors and a professional gardener.
Certificates were handed out in a number of categories, from Best Front Garden to Best Pensioners Garden.
Charles Enderby presented the awards at a meeting of Acomb Parish Council on November 6.
The award for Best Front Garden was given to Mr Alan Carr, with Ms L Mounsey, Mrs and Mrs Alan Surtees, Ms Rita White, and Mrs and Mrs A Farrar being awarded Commendations.
The Best Containers Award went to Mr L Draper, and Commendations were awarded to Mr and Mrs D Gradwell, and to Mr and Mrs T Gradwell [sic].
The Best Pensioners Garden award went to Mr E Sutherland, with Commendations awarded to Mr and Mrs D Thompson and to Mr and Mrs I Connolly.
The Best Pub Award went to The Sun Inn.
Finally, Community Awards were made to Mr M Armstrong for Millersfield Corner, and to Mr R Cram for Garden House Bank Triangle.
Winners and those receiving commendations were congratulated alike for their efforts in "brightening up the Acomb community."
