The Olivier Award-winning Papatango theatre company is bringing its adaptation of Robert Westall's classic ghost story, The Watch House, to Hexham.
Adapted by Chris Foxon and directed by George Turvey, the production will be performed at Queen's Hall Arts Centre on November 13 and 14.
The play, based on Westall's novel, tells the tale of Anne, a girl left at a near-abandoned watch house on the coast while her parents arrange their divorce.
The watch house, once a coastguard station famed for daring rescues, holds a secret that threatens everything.
Anne is catapulted into an adventure through graveyards, discos, and shipwrecks, as she and her eccentric crew strive to uncover the truth before it's too late.
Papatango's adaptation promises to be a thrilling, funny take on Westall's ghost story.
The cast includes Donald McBride as Arthur/Geordie, Aoife Kennan as Anne, and Catherine Dryden in multiple roles.
The tour of the production opened at Alnwick Playhouse on October 24 and will conclude at Cullercoats Watch House on November 16.
The Watch House premiered at Laurels in North Tyneside in December 2023, with a sold-out run.
