A play park in Stocksfield has been given new equipment.
Stocksfield Parish Council received a grant from Northumberland County Council to install new play equipment in the Branch End Play Area.
The grant of £11,811.19 from the County Council’s Housing Developer Fund for Sport and Play, along with an additional £4,000 from Councillor Anne Dale under the Members’ Local Improvement Scheme Initiative, made the installation possible.
The new equipment includes a 'Cliff Rider,' described by play equipment specialists Kompan as "a top scorer in thrilling play."
The children of Broomley First School Council officially unveiled the equipment on November 8.
After cutting the ribbon, they were the first to test it out.
Paul Vickers, chair of Stocksfield Parish Council, said: "Stocksfield Parish Council is delighted with this exciting new addition to the ever popular Branch End Play Area.
"Our village residents really enjoy the fantastic facilities and stunning views and we hope that the new equipment will encourage even more residents of Stocksfield to come and visit the play area and see what it has to offer.
"The play area includes play equipment for all ages, open grassed areas, outdoor gym equipment, picnic benches and a peace rose garden, along with sweeping views across the Tyne Valley.
"In adding this state of the art new play equipment to the current offering, the Parish Council is looking to the future of the village and ensuring the play park will provide safe, outdoors fun for children for years to come."
County Councillor Anne Dale said: "Broomley School and their School Council have had a real input into choosing the new play equipment.
"It is always a delight and such fun to work with them to look at the options available and to hear their views.
"A big thank you to everyone who helped."
