A new Santa's sleigh is set to hit the streets of Ponteland and Darras Hall.

After the original sleigh was destroyed by fire last April, a new one has been built thanks to a successful Crowdfunder campaign and a generous donation from the Harrison family, alongside wood from Jewsons.

The sleigh will be making its rounds on December 6 and 7.

Cash donations can be given during the sleigh tour, or people can text SANTA to 70560 to donate £5.

More information can be found at rotaryponteland.org.uk, where the routes and timetable for each night can be downloaded.

Another chance to contribute with a cash donation arises as Rotary Ponteland members tour the pubs and clubs of Ponteland in fancy dress on Friday, December 13.

Their final fundraiser of the year is a charity disco at The Diamond Inn on Saturday, December 21.

Karaoke fans will be able to sing Christmas hits to get into the festive spirit.

The main beneficiary of these events is the Smile for Life children's charity, which aims to support disabled and disadvantaged children, helping them to lead full and happy lives.
