A new book has been published featuring some of the North East's favourite spots.
'Our City, Our County' was published by the Northumberland and Newcastle Society to mark its centenary year.
The book is described as a 'love letter' to Newcastle, North Tyneside, and Northumberland and features both popular and lesser-known places loved by those who live, work, and visit the region.
The book is a result of a public appeal launched by the society in October 2023, which asked people to suggest their favourite buildings and structures across the city and county, and why they are special.
Editor Suzanne Stanley said: "We were overwhelmed with the response, from people from right across Tyneside and Northumberland.
"They suggested such a variety of places – some of which are very well known and others which are far less so, but which matter enormously to them for personal or professional reasons."
The book features places such as Kielder Viaduct, which the society purchased in 1969 to protect from demolition, and a Grade II-listed mini-Post Office disguised as a telephone kiosk in Whitley Bay.
'Our City, Our County: an anthology: a celebration of the first 100 years of the Northumberland and Newcastle Society' costs £20 and is available to order online at www.nandnsociety.org.uk/shop/
