Beamish Museum has begun its Christmas celebrations.

The museum will be decked with festive decorations, food, music, and crafts until December 24

Visitors can enjoy the atmosphere from different eras, from Georgian times to the 1950s, including the new 1950s town and Georgian Drovers Tavern.

There are festive food options including pies, hot sandwiches, and hot chocolate.

Paul Foster, events manager, said: "We can't wait to celebrate the Christmas season at the museum – it's definitely a highlight of the year for us."

Visitors should also keep an eye out for Father Christmas and Mrs Claus, who will be travelling around the site in their horse-drawn carriage on weekends.

The newly opened 1950s cinema will host a series of Grand Cinema Events, showing Christmas movies such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas on December 1, The Muppet Christmas Carol on December 8, and White Christmas on December 22.

Beamish has also launched its own Christmas jumper, inspired by exhibits including The Tramway and the Edwardian sweet shop.

Christmas at Beamish daytimes are included in admission and are free for Unlimited Pass holders and Friends of Beamish members.
