Wylam Pharmacy has been sold to Kiani Healthcare Limited.
The pharmacy, which dispenses an average of 11,300 NHS items per month, was owned by Andrew Nicholson since 2002.
It was put on the market to allow Mr Nicholson to retire.
Kiani Healthcare is an independent contractor which owns another pharmacy in Northumberland.
Reyhane Kiani, managing director at Kiani Healthcare Limited, said: "I am pleased to have acquired Wylam Pharmacy with an excellent local reputation and so much potential.
"We hope to build upon Andrew's success over the last 22 years by offering more services and delivering better care for individuals."
The sale of the pharmacy was handled by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.
Karl Clezy, director of pharmacy at Christie & Co, said: "We sold this pharmacy along with the freehold property including a flat above to a successful independent contractor in the same area.
"This is the second pharmacy we have sold to this buyer, and I am confident they will develop this pharmacy and enhance patient care just like they did with their first branch."
The pharmacy was sold for an undisclosed sum.
