PLANS have been submitted for a restaurant.
A planning application was submitted by an agent from Dakota House Of Design to Northumberland County Council for a restaurant at 4-6 Main Street, Ponteland.
The design and access statement said the proposal includes an internal ground and first-floor refurbishment to a restaurant and external rear extension for a large kitchen.
A former Barclays Bank, the building is located on the prominent north side of Main Street and originates from the 1970s.
The ground and first floor levels now contain a high-quality restaurant with the kitchen set to the rear of the building in an extension.
The statement said it is located in Ponteland's conservation area and benefits from several nearby listed buildings.
"The closest of which is the Grade II listed Pele Tower, which is set within a garden," the statement said. "Additionally, northeast of the building is the Grade II listed Old Rectory.
"It is proposed to install five small wall-mounted Agner 4 Light Wall Light to the exterior face of the terrace wall and seven to the front of the first floor over the terrace area to increase the ambient light levels for visibility and safety purposes. The design and make of the proposed light fitting will be small and not be intrusive to the external face of the building, or pose a risk of injury to pedestrians."
