GOLFERS from around the district helped a serial fund-raiser reach a significant landmark.
The prestigious Pig ‘n’ Mix Golf Day took place at Linden Hall near Morpeth, raising around £5,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance.
It also saw organiser Stewart Bailey take his personal fund-raising total to over £700,000
The County Durham man has led the golf day, which took place at Slaley Hall in 2019, for the past 11 years.
His other previous fund-raising activities contributing to the grand total include parachute jumps, charity football matches, sportsman evenings, auctions, and race nights.
Originally due to take place in June, this year’s golf event was delayed due to Covid-19, but Stewart retained the backing of businesses to support the air ambulance and put on an array of luxury prizes for golfers.
He said: “It was a truly memorable day for several reasons. I want to thank everyone who contributed. Without the support of golfers and businesses it would not happen.”
Read more about the day, and a very special hole-in-one at the 15th hole, in this week's Hexham Courant.
