A WOMEN’S rugby team played their first game in Ponteland RFC colours last weekend.
Ponteland RFC Tigers drew 8-8 with Blaydon Red Kites and the fixture was the first game for the new team.
The first match for the club’s new team saw Jayne Ireland captain the side on Sunday, while Hannah Mcmahon scored the team’s first-ever try and Jess Tolson was the team’s Player of the Match.
The Tigers had previously been set to play Winlaton in their first game, but the match was cancelled due to the lockdown restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.
The side have also confirmed details of their next scheduled game, with them set to play Percy Park Panthers on July 3.
