In Division One of the O'Neill Richmonds West Tyne Senior Cricket League, leaders Haydon Bridge remain on track to go through the season unbeaten following their latest one-sided victory at home to Mitford on Saturday, August 19.
Batting first on a green wicket, Mitford openers Chris Kirtley (21) and Tom Carmichael (8) scored at little more than one run per over with survival the main objective. The hosts finally made the crucial breakthrough in the 17th over and wickets then fell at regular intervals until they were dismissed for a modest 62 off the last ball of the 33rd over.
Liam Stephenson was the pick of the home side's bowlers and finished with figures of 5-13 including a hat-trick. The other wickets were taken by Gavin Boyd (3-8) and Jamie Taylor (2-10). In reply, Haydon Bridge lost an early wicket but thereafter had no trouble in reaching 64-3 with the winning runs coming from club stalwart Ian Watson who dispatched the first ball of the 13th over for six.
2021 champions Stamfordham won by 111 runs at home to Newton. After winning the toss, Newton's decision to field didn't go to plan as the hosts piled on the runs in the second half of their innings to reach 205-7 from the allotted 40 overs. Their top scorers were wicket-keeper Andrew McGrath (93 from 61 balls) and Tom Common (42 from 71 balls). South Northumberland 1864 restricted hosts Wylam to 127-8 after putting them in to bat. In reply, opener Aaryan Wagh (28) and No.7 Rory Cartmell (18) offered most resistance for the visitors who were still 43 runs short on 84-9 when the overs ran out. The pick of Wylam's bowlers were Thomas Barnett (3-3 off 8 overs) and Rory Young (3-21 off 8 overs).
Riding Mill won by four wickets with eight overs to spare after dismissing visitors Haltwhistle for 107 in the 24th over.

Bottom of the table Hexham Leazes conceded their scheduled match at Humshaugh.
In Division Two, Allendale won by one run in a nail-biting finish at Stocksfield. Howard Robson (35) top-scored for the under-strength visitors who were eventually all out for 114 in the 38th over with the final total boosted by 19 extras. After taking 3 wickets, club captain Chris Catnach (23) and wicket-keeper John Cole (39) put the hosts in a strong position before wickets started falling at regular intervals and they were agonisingly close to victory on 113-9 when the overs ran out. M.Morgan (5-20 off 8 overs) starred with the ball and also ran out top-scorer Cole.
After being put in to bat by Mitford, visitors Wylam were indebted to David Rewcastle (36) and Matthew Lamb (35) as the other nine batsmen all failed to reach double figures. Their final total of 163 all out in 38.5 overs was significantly boosted by a record 62 extras. Matty Edwards (4-17) and Joseph Cromar (3-25) enjoyed most success of the seven bowlers used. In reply, the hosts were dismissed for 113 in 24.4 overs, with Nick Townson (44) top-scorer. All six Wylam bowlers picked up wickets, including Tony Parker (3-20) and Richard Opie (2-26).
Following heavy overnight rain at High Westwood, Medomsley's scheduled home game with Newbrough was cancelled.
In Division One of the North East Premier League, Tynedale 1st XI won by seven wickets at Shotley Bridge and are now only six points behind Lanchester (2nd) with four games to play. Nathan Byerley (6-48) did most of the damage as the hosts were dismissed for 201 in 33.4 overs, with club captain Paul Greenwell (81 from 81 balls) top-scorer. In reply, an unbroken 4th wicket stand of 138 between James Rainford (66 not out from 58 balls) and Euan Stephenson (74 not out from 65 balls) saw Tynedale across the line in the 33rd over.
