A local tennis club withstood the late summer heat to enjoy a sizzling finals day last weekend.
Riding Mill is a a social and friendly club based next to Riding Mill Burn over the wooden bridge on Millfied Road, Riding Mill.
Saturday, September 9 marked the club's finals day, with five winners crowned after a fun-filled day of superb tennis action.
Paul Gabbey took the ‘triple crown’ of Men’s Singles champion, the Men’s doubles champion alongside Ross Breen, and the Mixed doubles title with Suzie Aitchison.
Suzie herself was a double winner, also taking the Ladies’ doubles title with Caroline Coates. The Ladies’ singles title was won by Ann Mates.
The festival atmosphere was enhanced by a barbecue on the day (where chef Tom Smyth was subjected to even more heat), as well as a quiz, guess the number of balls competitions, and a raffle, all organised by Linda Lee-Humble.
Riding Mill Tennis Club said: "Our thanks go to all those members who competed, umpired and ably supported behind the scenes to make this an unforgettable day."
