A nightmare week for Newcastle United was compounded on Sunday afternoon as they fell to a heavy defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.
Eddie Howe's side were looking to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat against Everton in midweek but the English manager was forced to name the same side as injuries continue to wreak havoc.
However, Sean Longstaff and Callum Wilson were deemed fit enough for the bench, which is a welcome boost as we enter the busy festive period.
Unfortunately for the Toon, Spurs looked confident despite their disappointing recent form, with goals from Destiny Udogie, Richarlison and Heung-Min Son handing them a 4-0 lead, before a late consolation from Joelinton ended the scoring.
Newcastle created the first opportunity of the game when Spurs' high line was exposed by Anthony Gordon and he raced in to cross for Alexander Isak, but the Swedish forward was denied after some superb defending from Ben Davies.
Kieran Trippier endured a torrid time at Goodison Park on Thursday and the return to his old club proved to be equally unsuccessful, with Son causing him all sorts of problems down the left.
The South Korean winger created the first goal by skipping past the right-back before crossing for Udogie to score his first goal for Spurs from close range on 26 minutes.
Twelve minutes later and it was 2-0, as Son once again got past Trippier far too easily, this time finding Richarlison who found the bottom corner with his left foot to make it 2-0.
The points were wrapped up on the hour mark when Pedro Porro played a pinpoint long ball to Richarlison, and the Brazilian brought it down well before sliding his second past Martin Dubravka.
The Slovakian goalkeeper has struggled since replacing the stricken Nick Pope and was guilty of bringing down Son in the penalty box on 85 minutes, with the forward picking himself up to score Spurs' fourth.
Newcastle's fans were given something to celebrate late on when Wilson squared for Joelinton to score, but it was another disappointing display, with AC Milan up next in the Champions League
